The Rev. Canon
Robert J. Miner, Interim Rector
I grew up in the town of Stonington, Connecticut - my home
parish was Christ Church, Westerly, Rhode Island, hence, I was ordained
in Rhode Island, and first served in that diocese. I am a graduate of
Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and of the Berkeley Divinity
School, New Haven, Connecticut.
In 1966, I became Rector of Saint James' Church, Derby, and
in 1971, separately, but concurrently, Rector of Immanuel Church, Ansonia,
both in the Diocese of Connecticut. In 1974 I moved to Old Greenwich,
Connecticut, to become Rector of Saint Saviour's Church there. I served that
parish for 26 years prior to my retirement in 2000. I am not doing well as a
retiree, as I constantly find myself taking on new tasks. The first of these
is mentioned above: The Greater Hartford Regional Ministry, in which I
ministered for about 2 years. During that time, I also served as Interim
Chaplain of Trinity College for six months. In 2003, I became Interim Rector
of Saint Peter's Church, Bennington Vermont, where I was for nearly two
years. As that tenure drew to a close, I served for several months as a
"consultant" for a special program of the Episcopal Church, preparing for,
and executing our Church's participation with the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in a Global Mission Event in July 2006. Some 1300 people from across
the nation and around the word came to share in that offering. I come to
Saint Paul's, from All Saints' Church, Ivoryton, Connecticut, where I have
served as Vicar for something more than a year.
I have been active in ordained ministry for 43 years. In
addition to my parish responsibilities, I have served on a number of secular
community, Diocesan and Episcopal Church committees and commissions.
